about

Poetical comparison between finnish and tamil vocabulary.

Who are we on this earth and under this sky? asked two men after meeting in Reykjavik. One was a refugee from eastern province of Sri Lanka, and the other, his professor in University of Island.
Together they studied the archaic layers of their languages and started to write poems using words that had close meanings and similar pronunciation.

Lyrics: Eero Suvilehto (Doctor of Philology). Jonathan T. Rassiah
Music: Heikki Hallanoro

lyrics

***English lyrics*******
The wrath of earth, the fury of fire
The rage of cold and wind
The wrath of forests and the ire of trees
The harsh anger of death

The intractable wrath of cunt
White bone flashing pain
on old man's neck

The red gill of a fish
The white mountain snow
The slim collum of a crane
The woman's fire on the rock

The fading flame of the fireplace
Old woman gone away
Sorrow flooding in the vale

The unadorned house of the sage
The ornate mansion of the dumb
The wicked ghost of the house wife
shot by a strong word

The troublesome rage of drunkenness
The heavy weight goblins settling in
The lonely bear eating gills
That depicts the old man's house.

***Finnish lyrics*******
Maan vihat, tulen vihat
Kylmän, tuulen vihat
Puun, metsänkin vihat
Ankara kalman viha

Perin hankala vitun viha
Luu valoa kantaa
äijän kaulalla

Punainen kalan kitu
Valkea vaaran lumi
Kurjella kapea kaula
Kalliolla akka tulen virittää

Sammui äijän takka
Pois ihana akka
Kurulla surua paljon

Talolla tuima tarkka
Tajua ei talolla
Paha aave akalla
Sanalla ampui pois

Perin hankala humala
Talolla peikkoja paljon
Karhu kitua syö
Äijän koti on

Maan vihat, tulen vihat
Kylmän, tuulen vihat
Puun, metsänkin vihat
Ankara kalman viha.
